The Course at the Bermuda Dunes

On Monday afternoon, a group of nearly 50 HITS exhibitors and their guests challenged the course at the Bermuda Dunes Country Club in Bermuda Dunes, California, for the second-half HITS Desert Circuit Golf Tournament.

The tournament featured a blind draw format and was won by the team of Buddy Brown, Alex Wilson, James Uransoski and Todd Samspon.

Other winners at the tournament were Didi McKenzie, who won the Women's Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin. Each victory earned her ticket to the FEI World Cup, in Las Vegas and now that she has two her husband Ken gets to come along.

Also headed to April's World Cup Finals with a pair of tickets will be Cara Anthony, who won the Par-3 Challenge. The two highest rounds of the day belonged to Patrick Snijders and Audra Fleck-Snijders, who each carded a 125. They may not have had the best day on the links, but for their high scores, they each received junior golf clubs and bags that were donated by Threadneedle.

The golf course at Bermuda Dunes Country Club is one of the finest golfing experiences that California has to offer. Having the longest running involvement in a major tournament, Bermuda Dunes has been involved in the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic since it began in 1960. It has been home to world renowned celebrities such as Clark Gable and Arnold Palmer, who both lived in the Bermuda Dunes community.

This golf club is also very good for the junior golfer's they can get better experience with own junior golf equipment

Judges crown winners in annual Tack Room decorating contest

The annual tack room decorating contest at HITS Thermal crowned its winners in both the Permanent Barn and Temporary Stabling categories on Sunday prior to the $75, 000 HITS Grand Prix.

Taking first place in the Permanent Barn category was John French and Waldenbrook. They received a Husky air compressor donated by Home Depot on Jackson Street in Indio. Second place went to Ventena Farms (Benson Carroll), winner of a Husky Shop Vac from Home Depot and the yellow ribbon in the Permanent Barn division went to Bay Rose (Wendy Carter), winner of two 8x10 photos of their choice donated by Flying Horse Photography.

In the Temporary Stabling category, the top award went to Sovereign Place (Joe Thorpe), winner of a beautifully crafted leather halter donated by Sellerie de France, makers of Antares saddles. The red ribbon went to Jenni Martin Training Stables, winner of a pair of shoes crafted by Der Dau Custom Boots and Shoes, and third place went to Lewis Circle of Horses (Rebecca Lewis), winner of a portable drill kit donated by Home Depot on Jackson Street in Indio.

Punkt and Amy Brubaker win the $5, 000 Children's/Adult Hunter Classic

On Friday night, Amy Brubaker outlasted a very competitive field to win the blue in the $5, 000 Children's/Adult Hunter Classic in the indoor arena. Brubaker piloted Melissa Doddridge's Punkt to collect $1, 500 in first place prize money.

Brubaker (San Marino, California) finished with three horses in the money. She was in the irons with Glenda Lippman's Red Label and also was aboard Tanya Levorchick's Golden Eye to finish tenth and 11th respectively. Other top finishers were Aspen, owned and ridden by Nicole Cane and Masquerade, owned and ridden by Madison Myers-Cook.

McConnell, Henselwood shine at HITS Thermal

The Grand Prix action at HITS Thermal shifted outdoors during Desert Circuit V and featured two exciting Grand Prix classes on courses built by Mexico's Florencio Hernandez. On Friday, it was Bill McConnell and Klein Ranch's Carolina that would win the blue marking his first Grand Prix victory ever in the state of California.

Then, on Sunday it was Canadian Olympian Jill Henselwood who rode Juniper Farm's Special Ed to the blue in the $75, 000 HITS Grand Prix. It was Henselwood's first Grand Prix win in Thermal this year as she had been knocking on the door all circuit but had just been coming up short.

Show-jumping action at the HITS Desert circuit is underway with Desert Circuit VI and features the popular Central Equine Relay on Friday night and the $50, 000 FEI World Cup Qualifier, presented by Adequan on Saturday night.

Saturday night's FEI World Cup Qualifier is the final of four qualifiers held during the HITS Desert Circuit. Grand Prix riders like Mandy Porter and Ashlee Bond will be fighting it out to earn a spot into April's World Cup Finals, in Las Vegas.
